At Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael, our Youth Programs provide meaningful opportunities for children and teens to connect with one another, celebrate Jewish life, build lasting friendships, and become active members of our synagogue community.

Our programs encourage Jewish learning, leadership, service, and community through engaging experiences both inside and beyond the classroom.

ALP — Advanced Leadership Program

Grades 8 – 12

ALP is our dynamic teen education and leadership program designed to help students deepen their Jewish knowledge, strengthen their Jewish identity, and prepare for lifelong involvement in the Jewish community.

Throughout the year, students explore meaningful topics such as:

  • Jewish identity and values
  • Israel and current events
  • Jewish ethics and leadership
  • Social justice and community responsibility
  • Antisemitism and media literacy
  • Holiday traditions and contemporary Jewish life

Classes feature engaging discussions, guest speakers, interactive activities, community service, and leadership opportunities that encourage students to think critically while building lasting friendships.

USY (United Synagogue Youth)

Grades 8 – 12

USY provides Jewish teens with opportunities to connect, lead, and grow in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Programs include:

  • Social events
  • Shabbat experiences
  • Holiday celebrations
  • Community service projects
  • Leadership development
  • Israel education and engagement
  • Regional USY events
  • Special guest speakers and workshops

USY helps teens strengthen their Jewish identity while creating lifelong friendships.

Minyonaires

Teen Leadership Program

Minyonaires is our monthly teen-led Shabbat morning program that encourages students to become active participants and leaders in synagogue life.

Participants have the opportunity to:

  • Lead portions of the Shabbat services
  • Learn Torah and Haftarah blessings
  • Develop public speaking and leadership skills
  • Earn community service hours
  • Enjoy breakfast and social time following services

Students of all experience levels are welcome.

Teen Leadership & Community Service

We believe today’s youth are tomorrow’s Jewish leaders.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to:

  • Volunteer at synagogue events
  • Assist with Religious School programs
  • Participate in holiday celebrations
  • Support community outreach projects
  • Earn volunteer hours for school, National Honor Society, and other organizations
  • Madrichim Program – Assist with religious school and support classroom teachers

These experiences encourage responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to serving the community.
