Next: The 80’s to Present

Center membership grew steadily, especially following World War II, as greater numbers of Jews moved to Morris County.  In 1946, because of diversity in religious observance, two congregations – Conservative and Orthodox – were formed. In 1957, a portion of the Center was remodeled for the Orthodox group and dedicated in memory of David Willner.

A Men’s Club, begun in 1947, continues till the present, providing a great deal of assistance with social, religious and educational programs, as well as a feeling of fellowship.  A unique feature of our history took place in the 1950’s during the tenure of Michael Rubenstein. During this time, we had Orthodox, Conservative and Reform congregations all making their home in this building. In 1952, plans were presented to the membership to increase the size of the building and an addition was added that now houses our Religious School.

The 1930s, 40s and 50s

For those who lived in Morristown and its suburbs during the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s, life revolved around the Center.  Constant activity took place here – sporting events, socials, mother/daughter luncheons, Scouts, a symphony orchestra, choir practices, Little Theater and more.
